I don't see any reason you couldn't get in, those are very nice credentials ... It's a very nice school. Great pick! Good luck!
2 :
These qualifications make a solid application. But there are no guarantees. Much will depend on whether you applying from in state or out of state, how many other applications they get this year, how your application essay sounds, and maybe also what your intended major is. But with these details I'd certainly put in an application!

It's getting kind of close to the end of the year now, when will the UW bookstore in Seattle start buying back high school textbooks?

I'm sorry, "Why would a University buy "back" high school text books? What would be the purpose? The university text books cost way more and the material is more towards post-secondary learning. Also, to buy "back" text books would imply that the university sold the text books in the first place.

How hard is it to get into the University of Washington in Seattle?

How hard is it to get into the University of Washington in Seattle?
I plan to apply this university, but I am a concerned about the fact that I live in another state. I know that they don't accept as many out of state students and it usually is harder for a out of state student to get in. Has anyone gotten into this school from another state? and if so, how were your grades and also standardized test scores?

i applied this fall and got in. I'm from Oregon by the way. I had a SAT score of 2050 and GPA of 3.8. Don't worry though, i think my stats are a tad above average at their school. Average overall for their school is SAT score of around 1800 and GPA of 3.7
2 :
i got into that university, i had an average SAT score and 3.6 gpa but i also had college credits because i am taking college in high school. i think it is semi-easy to get into.

those who attend UW school of business in seattle. please answer my question.?
i will soon apply for the school of business at the University of washington in seattle. Therefore, i was wondering what question did they ask you to write your essay on. Note: 1) this question is regarding the admission for the school of business, not the admission for the UW campus. 2) i heard that during this process you have 2 hours and you have to go to the campus to write your essay.

Looking to attend Argosy University in Seattle Washington?

Looking to attend Argosy University in Seattle Washington?
I am looking to attend this University to become a counselor. I am wanting to get my Bachelors and Masters Degree. I have had phone conferences with some of their reps and it sounds like a great school. However, I am just wondering how much they are sugar coating everything. It is a very expensive school and I don't want to waste my money. If anyone has had experience with this college how was your experience? Worth the money? I would appreciate ANY advice- thanks!

You asked an intelligent question. It is always wise to investigate before committing money and time. Argosy is a for-profit proprietary school. This means that its mission is to make money for its owners, which is why it is so expensive. Proprietary schools are usually given little or no respect by other colleges and employers. You will get a better education for much less money in your state's public system of higher education, even if you need to start at a public community college before going on to a state college or university. Any school which has (sales) reps is probably a proprietary school. Non-profit schools, public and private, have admissions officers. Best wishes.

Is Seattle, Washington a good place to raise a family?
My wife and I are thinking about looking into moving there... What is your opinion? And what is the best area around/in Seattle in which to live? How are schools, public and private? Thanks

It's lovely but rains 335 days a year.

Seattle, and the surrounding area is a great place to raise children. I do want to say however, that it's an expensive area to live. Housing is still pretty expensive, traffic is horrible, and yes, it rains there, but not NEARLY as much as people say! There are many wonderful Private and Public schools, and many cultural places to visit. I wouldn't hesitate to make a move to Washington if I could afford it! Good Luck
3 :
It's a very expensive city to live, You better have a really good job that makes like $100,000 a year or more if you want to live a decent life. And it does rain a lot. Jan, Feb and March are the 3 mos of darkness, it is cloudy everyday except for maybe 3 or four partly cloudy days a month. It can make you depressed.
4 :
im still in the growing up stage but seattle dose rain alot. but not as much as people say. but when we have thunder and lightning storms... they are cool to watch.
5 :
I think Seattle is a great place to raise the family. There are pockets within Seattle that are perfect for families but also some good suburbs right outside of Seattle. Good neighborhoods within Seattle are Ballard, Queen Anne, Magnolia if you can afford it. Also Wedgewood and Laurelhurst, Crown Hill - all nice areas. Areas with good family pockets are also Edmonds, Shoreline and some parts of Northgate. Seattle public schools are interesting. They are constantly having budgtet crisis. There are some amazing schools and some that are really poor - equity doesn't really exist here. You go from Queen Anne public school which raises thousands of dollars in hours compared to some in Central district which struggles to raise a thousand. Sad really. Private schools are accessible and expensive. There are a variety tochose from of course but some of the elementary /high schools that have good reputations are Lakeside - if your kid is smart enough, Seattle country day - if your kid is smart enough and you have enough money, various Catholic schools with excellent reps. Holy Names for Girls and O'Dea for Boys. bishop Blanchet is both genders.

Yes very safe but extremely expensive!!!!!!!!!

I am looking for an African american "old school" type night club in Seattle. I'll be in Seattle on 8/16/07
I am a 45 year old Marketing professional who's in the process of re-locating to Seattle, Washington. I'll be visiting Seattle next week to look at available condos. I've never visited there before. I like bars for mature black adults. Clubs that play Al Green and Marvin Gaye style music as well as some old school funk like Parliment/Funkadelic. Although I've been know to get my "jam" on, I'm not too much into the loud hip hop favored by the younger crowd. I prefer the jazz and classic soul flavored atmosphere. Pretty people, good music and healthy drinks. Know of anyplace like that? I'll have a car and can drive to where the real party is. I'll be staying near the airport and would like to check out some clubs on Wednesday or Thursday night. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there aren't many choices. If you were staying longer (like until Sunday) then, I would suggest a few 'after church' Sunday brunches (Kingfish Cafe' -- The restaurant at the top of the Double Tree Inn near the airport) that are really good. But, there won't be any places that play ol' skool unless you find a bar with a digital 'jukebox' or you go to a native American tribal casino. I go to the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, WA.. If you are lucky, on certain nights, the casino will have a 'cover' band that plays R&B, funk, and soul. I would look into the Muckleshoot Casino first then, if that isn't working for you, Try the "Fin and Bone" Restaurant in Renton, WA.. They have live Jazz on certain nights during the week. Otherwise, you might as well stay at your hotel. Sorry, Seattle is just a bit too "white"! LOL! Not 'dissin' all the caucasian out there. Other than that, Seattle is a great place to live and raise a family. Hope you enjoy your stay! Peace!

UWashington vs. Seattle University vs. Washington State U vs. Gonzaga?

UWashington vs. Seattle University vs. Washington State U vs. Gonzaga?
Hi, I'm a senior in high school and plan on attending school in Washington. These four colleges (UWashington, Seattle U, WSU, Gonzaga) are the ones I'm looking at, and was wondering if any of you out there know pros and cons of them? Which is the best financially (living expenses, tuition, financial aid, etc.) What is the best academically? Thanks!

You can look up financial info yourself (you are on the Net aren't you?), otherwise it really comes down to what you plan on studying and Majoring in.
2 :
UWashington is the best, followed by Gonzaga, then WSU and Seattle. I would recommend going to UW if you got in because it is a very good school and it would probably be cheaper than Gonzaga, even if you were paying out of state tuition. You should also apply to Gonzaga as well. Financial aid depends on what the university can give you, if you qualify. I haven't heard of Seattle earning an expensive place to live award, so I imagine that it isn't too bad (certainly wont be like San Francisco or New York City)
3 :
Depends on your feel of the school, your degree, and finances. If you like the cities, and have no problem with city crime go to UW, Seattle U, Gonzaga (trust me, it is in a booming city). Washington State University is a town school, and its degrees of study is broad allowing flexibility with the major (unlike some schools). In Washington State University, advisers are one on one with student's decision. You can go undecided, like some, and still find a major of your choice. Crime is low in WSU. Ranked 1 for safest school in Washington. There is a Fernands Ice cream and cheese store within the University. I suggest looking around the Universities to have the feel. There is an airport close by. Cons about Washington State University A long scenic drive which lots of rocks can be collected (I am majoring in geology)

Why do citizens in Seattle, Washington, allow codified racism in their schools?

Why do citizens in Seattle, Washington, allow codified racism in their schools?
Note this page on the Seattle public schools web site: http://www.seattleschools.org/area/equityandrace/index.dxml In particular note #5 and #6 in their mission statement. By the very words of that mission statement the program is available only to "students of color." That folks is racism in its most blatant form. But then Seattle is one of the most liberal areas in the nation. Maybe we were foolish to expect better from liberals, or liberal educators. So much for the liberal concept of equality, eh? Jenny, come on, wake up, it is racist because it excludes people not "of color." It excludes, not includes. It keeps some people out, not brings everyone in. As for Oprah her speaking about "people of color" is racist only if she proposes helping and doing something for a group of people. The key on this racist thing is whether or not the definition being used is about "a group, as a specific race", or about everyone as "individuals."

Wow. You certainly are ignorant. "People of color" is a phrase that's been floating around the past several years. It's not the same thing as saying "colored." It's in no way racist! For God's sake, Oprah uses the term. Is Oprah a racist? No.
2 :
Typical leftist garbage. Remember that in order to create the citizen soldier of the future all American traditions must be destroyed. Only be establishing an over class with the power to determine what is in the best interests of the state, and with the power to prevent individual excellence can the dream of Marx become a reality. This speaks to the need for school choice.
3 :
Students of Color? HHMMMM, Since Brown, Red, & Yellow qualify as colors, are those 'colors' included? With only .25 % American Indian ( RED )Blood in my veins, would I be qualified? Or would the liberal establish ment only designate 1/4 th of me 'qualified'? What 25% of me would be included, PROVIDED that my American Indian Heratige is included? One leg? How about only my two arms? HHHHMMMMMMMMM !!!???
4 :
get used to it. I was born there and moved a long time ago when reverse discrimination took over. Any mission statement that uses any gender or race statements is wrong>
